Dr. Vicki Román-Lagunas has dedicated most of her adult life to institutions of higher education. She has spent the past 25 years in leadership positions in offices of Academic Affairs. She is passionate about her vocation, especially for working in institutions like Indiana University, because she knows that through her work, and the work of the faculty, staff, and students, we are transforming the lives of our students, and the communities in which we live and serve. In her leadership positions in offices of Academic Affairs, Vicki especially values her work in partnership with other university-wide leaders.
Vicki received her Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from Florida State University. Her research focuses on the literature written by and about the oppressed populations in South and Central America. As the first in her family, and the only in her generation, to complete a college degree, her passion for higher education stems from her conviction that education is the pathway to a better life and a better world. Her personal life and her work in offices of Academic Affairs underscore her commitment to working with university leaders to serve all students, to supporting and enhancing faculty research and creative activities, and to using all our collective talents to serve the State of Indiana and beyond.
