Dr. Susan Sciame-Giesecke is Vice President for Regional Campuses and Online Education. She served as Interim Executive Vice President for University Academic Affairs from July 1, 2021, to assuming the role of Vice President May 1, 2022. Prior to these appointments, Sciame-Giesecke served in multiple roles on the Indiana University Kokomo campus, beginning as a faculty member in 1977. She went on to the role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Director for the Center for Teaching Excellence, Chair of the Humanities Department and the Freshman Learning Community Program, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Interim Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. In 2012 she was named interim Chancellor, and in 2014 was installed as the seventh Chancellor of Indiana University Kokomo.

Under her campus leadership, Indiana University Kokomo saw record enrollment and graduation rates, and launched numerous new degree programs both at the undergraduate and graduate level. She expanded the athletic program to include 12 sports teams and added a menu of student success programs.

Chancellor Sciame-Giesecke oversaw a $14 million renovation of IU Kokomo’s Main Building, extensive renovation of the library, the construction of a new advising center, a new outdoor courtyard, the Cole Family Fitness and Wellness Center, the “Ground Up” Coffee Shop and the Student Activities and Events Center that was completed in the fall of 2020.  During a recent fundraising campaign, she and her staff raised 14 million dollars for scholarships.

In her role as Vice President for Regional Campuses and Online Education, Dr. Sciame-Giesecke is responsible for Indiana University’s five regional campuses and shares her passion for the students that they serve. A strong advocate for the regional campuses, she leads collaborative efforts to maximize opportunities for student success, such as multi-campus degree programs.

Additionally, she also works with faculty to enhance IU Online to best serve students.

Throughout her career, Dr. Sciame-Giesecke has been a strong voice for the importance of higher education as a benefit to everyone. As Vice President, she continues to advocate for all Hoosiers to have access to post-secondary education.
